A Peek Inside

Born To Rise

CHAPTER 1

The Importance of Grit, Resilience,

and Vision

3_edited_edited.png

I didn’t grow up dreaming of becoming an entrepreneur.

No one handed me a blueprint.

No one showed me how to build a life, create independence, or take control.

There were no connections.

No safety net.

No generational wealth.

What I had was responsibility.

Two little boys.

A life that didn’t feel right.

And a moment that would change everything.

The Turning Point

I don’t remember every detail of that morning. But I remember the feeling.

The house felt cold.

Not physically cold—emotionally cold.

Quiet in a way that didn’t feel peaceful, but heavy. Like the walls had absorbed too much.

My husband had left for work about thirty minutes earlier. I remember standing there—still. Listening. Making sure he was really gone.

I wasn’t leaving him as much as I was leaving a life that was breaking me.

Because I knew something in that moment that I had not fully admitted to myself before—

If I don’t move right now, I might never move at all. And deep down, I knew that was true. I was 23 years old.

No plan.

No backup plan.

No guarantees.

Just a decision sitting deep in my chest:

I can’t stay here.

Fear vs. Decision

My boys were with my mom.

And I cried.

Not soft tears.

The kind that come from your core—when you know your life is about to split in two.

Because I knew exactly what I was doing.

I was walking away from everything familiar.

The fear was real.

Terrified of what he would do.

Terrified he would try to take my boys. Terrified of starting over with nothing.

But there was something stronger than the fear.

A voice.

Calm. Clear. Unshakable.

Failure is not an option.

Action Over Emotion

No hesitation.

No overthinking.

No debate about whether it was the “right time.”

Just action.

We packed.

We moved.

We cleared out a life that once felt permanent—in a matter of hours.

By noon, it was empty.

I stood there looking around, realizing—

It’s done.

No going back.

No undoing it.

Just forward.

There was no other option.

The Reality After the Decision

Here’s the part people don’t talk about.

The moment after the brave decision.

Because walking away?

That’s one moment.

But rebuilding?

That’s a thousand moments.

There were nights I sat there after putting my boys to bed, quietly staring at the ceiling, asking myself—

What did I just do?

Because the decision is one moment—but the weight of it shows up later.

I didn’t have everything figured out.

I didn’t have some perfect plan laid out.

What I had was pressure.

Bills that didn’t stop.

Responsibility that didn’t pause.

Two little lives depending on me to figure it out—no matter what.

And there was no room to fail.

So I didn’t.

Not because it was easy.

But because I decided it wasn’t an option.

The Promise That Defined Everything

Then I picked up my boys.

Two little boys looking at me with complete trust.

And in that moment, I understood something at a level I never had before.

They didn’t need perfection.

They needed me.

Strong.

Steady.

Certain.

And I said something I will never forget—

“Mommy loves you. And whatever it takes, I am going to keep you safe.”

That wasn’t just a statement.

That was a commitment.

That was a line in the sand.

That was the moment my life changed.

This Is Where It Really Begins

Not when I made money.

Not when I built a business.

Not when things “worked out.”

That moment.

That decision.

That was the beginning.

Because entrepreneurship is not just about business.

It’s about ownership.

It’s about the moment you stop waiting and start deciding:

I will figure this out.

I didn’t know it then, but that moment taught me what actually builds a life.

The Truth About Success

Over time, I learned something most people never fully understand—

Success is not built on luck.

It is not built on perfect timing.

It is not built on having all the answers.

It is not built for comfort.

It’s built on three things—

Grit.

Resilience.

Vision.

Grit—Showing Up When It’s Hard

There were days I didn’t want to get out of bed. Days I questioned everything.

Days I was exhausted in every way possible.

That’s where grit is built.

Grit is not glamorous.

It doesn’t look good on social media.

It doesn’t come with applause.

Grit is showing up when—

You are exhausted.

You are overwhelmed.

You don’t feel like it.

It’s getting up early when no one is watching. It’s doing the work when there’s no guarantee it will pay off.

It’s choosing discipline over emotion.

And let me tell you something real—

The people who win in life are not the most talented. They are the most consistent. Grit is what keeps you moving when motivation disappears.

Resilience—Getting Back Up Every Time

I didn’t just fall once.

I had to rebuild more than once.

Life will knock you down.

Not once.

Not twice.

But over and over again.

Resilience is not about avoiding that.

It’s about what you do after it happens.

Do you stay down?

Or do you get back up?

I have had to start over when I didn’t want to.

I have had to face things that would break most people. But every time, I got back up.

And every time I did, I became stronger.

Vision—Seeing Before It Exists

Vision is choosing to believe—before you see the proof.

Before the success.

Before the money.

Before the results.

You have to believe first.

You have to see something before it exists.

And most people struggle here.

Because they rely on what they can see right now.

But if you only move when you have proof, you will never create anything extraordinary.

Vision says—

I know where I’m going—even if I’m not there yet.

You Build This in the Hard Seasons

Here’s the truth most people don’t want to hear.

You don’t build grit, resilience, and vision when life is easy.

You build them when life is hard.

When things don’t go your way.

When you are uncomfortable.

When you are stretched beyond what feels safe.

That’s where growth happens.

The Shift That Changes Everything

At some point, everything changes when you stop asking—

Why is this happening to me?

And you start asking—

What is this teaching me?

How is this shaping me?

Who am I becoming because of this?

That question changes everything.

That shift?

That’s where your power begins.

This Is Not Random

If you are reading this right now, there’s a reason.

Because something inside of you already knows— You were meant for more.

More freedom.

More purpose.

More control over your life.

That feeling?

It isn’t random.

It’s a signal.

The Decision That Defines You

My journey didn’t end there.

I went on to build a career.

Lose everything.

Rebuild from the ground up.

And lose it again.

I started over more than once.

And you will read those stories throughout this book.

But none of it would have happened without that first decision.

To choose myself.

To choose my boys.

To walk away from what was not right—and move toward what could be.

Because you don’t become an entrepreneur when you file paperwork.

You don’t become one when you make money.

You become one the moment you decide— Your life is worth building.

The Shift

You don’t need permission.

You don’t need perfect timing.

You don’t need to have it all figured out.

You need a decision.

Because the life you want?

It isn’t found.

It’s built.

And it starts the moment you decide—

You are not going back.

Reflection

• What is something in your life right now that you know is not working?

• What decision have you been avoiding?

• What are you tolerating that you have already outgrown?

Action

For the next 30 days, choose one action daily that moves your life forward.

Choose one habit or skill you will commit to.

Write it at the top of your notes each morning.

Track it daily and stay accountable.

No excuses.

No perfection.

No waiting.

Just progress.

Because progress builds momentum.

And momentum?

Changes everything.

The Identity Shift

Because the person you are becoming is built one decision at a time.

This is where it begins.

This is where you stop waiting.

This is where you decide—

You are not going back.

This is where—

“UNSTOPPABLE” starts.
